In 1997 I wrote a song with Bryan Adams for his MTV unplugged album called 'Back To You'. The song was about a time in my life when I needed help to make the right decisions. I needed something to guide me. The song was a hit which is something I am very proud of, but what happened next changed my life. We got an email from a girl in Argentina explaining how she had been suffering from Anorexia and was close to death. She heard our song and it reminded her of who she used to be. She thanked us for saving her life. It made me realise how important songs were to people.

Our Song is a book about the power of song and music. How we attach our most treasured memories to a lyric and melody, and write our lives into them, but it is also a journey through a songwriters imagination. In the book I talk to some of the most successful songwriters in the world to ask them how they wrote some of the most famous 'Our Songs'. And also people who have some of the most touching, funny and tragic stories about the times in their lives when a simple song said everything they were feeling. I would like your help.
